Light clothes and light problems π
Hi friends,
This week , here's what I learned in a flash:
The warm embrace of summer in Switzerland signals a time for lighter clothing and lighter thinking
let go of the non-essentials to make room for what truly matters
Let me explain a little bit more :
Since the arrival of the weekend, Switzerland has embraced a summery ambiance. Living in the heart of Lausanne, I've noticed terraces bustling with people savoring Spritz and Hugo, marking the season's joy.
Summer also heralds the shift to lighter clothing. Whether it's silk shirts or breezy footwear, such items have been tucked away in my cellar for the winter. Each spring, as I retrieve them, I'm often struck by forgotten pieces, like a T-shirt I haven't worn in ages, prompting me to wear it soon.
Yet, upon storing away my winter gear, I realized I hadn't worn about a quarter of my usual attire. This led me to adopt a "berserker" method of selection, inspired by Derek Sivers in his book "Hell Yeah or No." I evaluated each item with questions:
Did I wear it last season?
Does it feel good?
Is it kept just in case it becomes fashionable again?
This approach helped me discard anything that didn't meet my criteria. The consequence of keeping clothes that are never worn is not just a physical clutter but a mental one as well. And this works not only with clothes but also with other material. By freeing up space in my closet, I also cleared my mind, making room for more significant pursuits. It's spring, a time to declutter and focus on what truly matters.
I hope this gave you something to think about !
